Hokkaido Island Earthquake
JNTO has released travel information following the Hokkaido island Earthquake on 6th September, 2018.On September 6th, 2018 at approximately 3:12 am (JST), a strong earthquake (Magnitude 6.7) occurred on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, this earthquake poses no tsunami risk. Travellers visiting Hokkaido are advised to be conscious of aftershocks in the coming week.
At New Chitose Airport, the operations of domestic flights have been partially resumed on September 7th. On September 8th, most domestic flights and all international flights are scheduled to be operated.
