“JAPAN – Where tradition meets the future” returns with new interactive contents to take viewers on a spellbinding virtual tour of Japan.
Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has released a new 360-degree virtual reality (VR) video “[360-degree VR] JAPAN – Where tradition meets the future” (https://youtu.be/OR_Y7vj66PU) on 16 January 2018.
The video, visualising the essence of Japan and its culture, has been created as part of “JAPAN – Where tradition meets the future” (http://visitjapan-europe.jnto.go.jp/en/), a large-scale inbound tourism promotion by JNTO targeting 15 European countries, which started in 2016. Based on the concept of fusing “tradition,” “innovation,” and “nature” that coexist in Japan’s diverse culture, the 360-degree VR video takes viewers on a virtual tour of Japan.
As part of the promotion, JNTO will be running a prize competition on social media to win round-trip air tickets to Japan. In addition, an augmented reality (AR) digital signage display “Interactive Vision”, allowing passersby to virtually try on traditional Japanese costumes such as kabuki, maiko, and samurai, will be exhibited in five countries across Europe.

“[360-degree VR] JAPAN – Where tradition meets the future”
This 360-degree VR video showcases Japan's mesmerising qualities condensed into an enthralling three minute video. It creates a simulated experience of visiting Japan
