  • If you have plenty of time, prefer not to fly or are just looking to exercise your sea legs, travelling by cargo ship is a great way to visit Japan, either as your final destination or as part of a wider journey to the Far-East and beyond.

    Cargo ships are working vessels designed, as their name suggests, to transport cargo to ports around the world, but many are also able to carry a limited number of passengers. Fares generally include comfortable accommodation, basic entertainment facilities such as games rooms, videos, and gym equipment, as well as all meals.

    Travelling to Japan by cargo ship is usually more expensive than the equivalent direct airfare but for passengers who would like to experience a leisurely sea voyage away from the luxury and glamour of  a cruise ship holiday, cargo ships can be a wonderful value-for-money travel alternative.
