Haruki Murakami’s New Book, 1Q84, Out Tomorrow

Murakami’s highly anticipated novel, 1Q84, is released in the UK on 19 October. First published in three volumes in Japan in 2009–10, the novel quickly became a sensation, with its first printing selling out the day it was released, and reaching sales of one million within a month.
The title is a play on the Japanese pronunciation of the year 1984 (the number 9 in Japanese is pronounced like the letter 'Q'). This hypnotically addictive novel is a work of startling originality and, as the title suggests, a mind-bending ode to George Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four".
Prior to the publication of 1Q84, Murakami stated that he would not reveal anything about the book, following criticism that leaks had diminished the novelty of his previous books. So as not to spoil the surprise, we won’t tell you any more about it! 1Q84 will be widely available in the UK from 19 October 2011.
